Our mission as the next generation of renewable energy is to drive positive climate change by promoting sustainable, affordable renewable energy solutions to the world.

Climate crisis, global warming, carbon emissions— these are all buzzwords we have all been too accustomed to hearing about from our news to our science classes. According to scientists from the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, with our world’s current rates of carbon emissions, we will not be able to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. Surpassing this threshold has been warned by experts to have catastrophic climate damages. How are we supposed to live in a world where our livability on Earth is not guaranteed?

As of 2020, about 80% of the world’s energy is made by burning fossil fuels, which are not renewable and drive a large sector of the climate crisis. In spite of renewable energy efforts in the past several decades, making the switch to renewable, clean energy is still inaccessible to much of the United States. This can be due to an array of barriers such as the expensive cost of switching, regulations, infrastructure limitations, and lack of education. That being said, how can we work to lower this daunting 80%?

My organization, RenewGen, is a social enterprise that enables communities across the United States to not only switch to renewable energy, but also have the capacity to own and operate on these renewable energy projects. Our name is born from aiming to be the next generation of renewable energy. Our organization seeks to change the norm by bringing power back to the people by allowing them to have a stake in our efforts. By engaging the community in our work, we can help combat climate change by bringing clean energy alternatives to their lives, while also introducing jobs and other benefits to their communities.

We are asking for Anima Mundi Development Partners’ support because we believe AMDP shares many of the same principles as we do in our operations and mission to better the world. With AMDP’s financial support, RenewGen can dedicate the funding towards any upfront costs in our renewable energy infrastructures and towards our organization’s goal of expanding our operations across North America. Ultimately, we want to be a pioneering step in converting the world into renewable energy, from local communities to the global scene. With a collective effort, we at RenewGen hope to leave this world in a better state than when we joined it by taking one step at a time.
